Overview

Service positions within healthcare institutions are essential in the daily upkeep and services rendered to patients at the facilities. These positions require a high school diploma, and some may require a certificate if required by the facility. Service positions perform direct or indirect patient care services such as maintaining the cleanliness of patient care areas, restocking patient rooms, delivering and collecting patient dining trays, and transporting patients to diagnostic procedures and other hospital locations.
